Project Work "Strange Houses Around The World"

My 5th formers received a task to do a project on strange houses around the world according to the following plan: 1.House Name 2. Location  3. Shape  4. House outside  5. House inside  6. Recommendation. They did some online research, collected information about strange houses around the world and prepared their posters. They also included some photos and wrote a few sentences about the house. Кожний український школяр чи школярка, який/яка наразі навчається у 8-11 класах школи або бере gap year (перерва після випуску зі школи до навчання у закладі вищої освіти), володіє англійською мовою, не має змогу покрити вартість консультантів із закордонної освіти, мріє про топовий навчальний заклад та воліє повернутися в Україну після навчання за кордоном, має спробувати свої сили!

Після першого туру-заявки на вас очікують онлайн-тести з математики та англійської мови. Апліканти/ки, що пройдуть до останнього етапу, матимуть інтерв’ю з волонтерами та засновниками програми.

Перед тим, як відправляти заявку, зверніть увагу на наші поради:

• Почитайте інформацію на нашому оновленому сайті, https://ugs.foundation/admissions, особливо звертаючи увагу на Admissions та FAQ сторінки.

• Ретельно ознайомтесь із питаннями заявки та продумайте план відповідей на них. Для того, щоб зрозуміти, як варто писати есе та що саме ми хочемо почути, перегляньте наш онлайн-курс у відкритому доступі на Prometheus тут - https://courses.prometheus.org.ua/.../course-v1.../about

• Не думайте, що заявку можна підготувати за один день! Якісно підготовлена заявка – це добре продумані, щирі відповіді з детальними прикладами та мінімальною кількістю граматичних помилок. Переходьте за хештегом #як_стати_фіналістом_UGS, аби дізнатись більше про те, як можна посилити свою заявку та рівень своєї англійської.

• Якщо ви вже подавались до UGS, але не пройшли, скористайтесь цим шансом та спробуйте подати заявку знову! Особливо доречним для вас стане місце в заявці під назвою ‘Optional explanation’, де ви маєте показати, чому приділяли увагу останній рік та як працювали над своїми слабкими сторонами.  Celebrating Thanksgiving Day!

Thanksgiving Day is a holiday celebrated by Americans on the fourth Thursday of November. It celebrates the story of the Pilgrim’s meal with the Native Americans and is reserved as a day to spend with loved ones and for giving thanks.

Most families observe with a large meal and sometimes a religious service. Many countries observe a variation of this celebration or have a different holiday along the same themes. It is common to mark the harvest season with celebratory meals and festivals of thanks within many religions and communities, a theme that dates back to ancient pagan festivals. 

Remembrance Day in Great Britain

Remembrance Sunday is held in the United Kingdom as a day to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts. It is held at 11am on the second Sunday in November (the Sunday nearest to 11 November).

It is marked by ceremonies at local war memorials in most cities, towns and villages, attended by civic dignitaries, ex-servicemen and -women, members of local armed forces regular and reserve units as well as  youth organisations. Representatives of the Judiciary also lay wreaths at local War Memorials throughout the country. Wreaths of remembrance poppies are laid on the memorials and two minutes' is held at 11am. Church bells are usually rung half-  muffled, creating a sombre effect. The service is held for about two hours.

International video essay competition by UWC Dilijan

The goal of the contest is to motivate young people standing on the very threshold of maturity to think about the people in everyday life who provide an example to them and can rightly be called a hero. Heroes can be those close to us, or those further away, whose deeds and actions are aimed at helping those in need, the conservation and improvement of the lives of others, creating a positive change in the world around them.

The Scholarship Programme to win a two-year scholarship in the Sixth Form of a British boarding school will run as usual during the coronavirus lockdown. All changes in the organization of the selection process due to the lockdown and the quarantine measures during the possible second wave of the pandemic will appear on ConcordiaUA website. This webpage now contains the updated application pack for the year 2021.

In case some UK schools cannot open for boarding at the start of term due to restrictions imposed by the government on residential accommodation, the scholars will, temporarily, study remotely. According to HMCP authorities, the online teaching being conducted by UK schools is of a high standard.

           Eco-friendly Project "Energy-efficient School"

In 2019-2020 my students and I took part in the eco-friendly project "Energy-efficient school". We mastered all the course distantly by ourselves and gained extremely valuable skills in housekeeping and saving energy.

On this start of the New Academic year I wish all my students new learning experiences and interesting challenges, a lot of opportunities and joy, which would let to explore “unchartered waters” in professional activities and will help to reach personal goals!
